Sports Thoughts of The Day...

-The investigations of violations in the NCAA is getting ridiculous.
Last week the reports of potential violations involving Oregon Football came out. Now we are learning that Ohio State head coach Jim Tressel new of violations well before the school or NCAA did. It seems as if every week there is something new going on with a university athletic department.

Either the rule book needs to be simplified, lightened, or better explained. Ever since USC got nailed last summer, every journalist is trying to uncover potential misconduct by a school. You don't have to dig too far to find something happening just about everywhere. Unless we want to continue seeing this occur, something needs to change. It is having a very negative impact on all of college sports. Fans are getting tired of reading about it, and schools are getting tired of dealing with it.

-Tiki Barber, you are crazy!

Tiki retired at the end of the 2006 season, to become an author, Today show host, and a football analyst for NBC. He still had a lot left in the tank it seemed, but he said he wanted to pursue other things while his body was still right.

Now, four seasons have passed and he decides he wants to come back. What is he thinking? Perhaps coming back for the 2007 season would have been a good choice, when his former team won the super bowl! He might feel good while working out in the gym, but odds are against him to be any bit productive. At 36, which is about 86 in running back years, he will be lucky to get a shot to latch on with a team. Tiki, this is a terrible decision! Your best bet is to stay seated on that Today show couch.

-Venoy Overton, bad decision.

The Senior guard for the Washington Huskies basketball team was suspended for the Pac-10 tourney after being charged with furnishing alcohol to 16 year old girls.

Although his name was kept private, it has been widely known he was the athlete being investigated by the Seattle Police Department for a possible sexual assault that occurred about six weeks back.  Those much bigger charges never went down, with the detectives saying witness statements seemed it appeared to be consensual. Either way, you should not be hanging out with 16 year old's. This guy is a star athlete at a major D-1 college. About 40,000 people go there. He could not find any girls his own age to drink with? Use your head man. Now, you may cost your team when the season really matters. It is playoff time. Every game counts.

-What's to come for this week...

The spring previews will really pick up, with the next four teams up (to be revealed as they come) in the next four days.

A story on all of these football allegations, and some more in-depth thoughts and analysis.

Also, a story on a couple of Washington State Cougars from Orlando, who begin their first spring practices in the coming days.

Spring is in the air, folks. Can you smell it?
